All about Tegu
Tegu believe that every child possesses the ability to build, create, and imagine. Tegu blocks are a canvas for the imagination. No instruction manuals or electronics, just toys that inspire limitless creativity across all ages. Powerful magnets that are nestled in each block mean that your child can explore the boundless options to create rockets, boats, dinosaurs and so much more!
How does playing with Tegu support a child's development over time? Playing is learning! When a child plays their minds are opened to learn in new and exciting ways. So exciting, they don't even know they are doing it! Younger children will develop their fine motor skills, pattern recognition and balance. Older children will explore and learn about scale, fractions, counting, science and incorporate these versatile blocks into creating stories and other imaginative play.
What are Tegu blocks made from? The main wood Tegu source in Honduras is called Huesito (Spanish for little bone), which is a hardwood found in abundance in Honduras' forests. Every tree is handpicked with local Honduran cooperatives and can make up to 1200 blocks. Up to 10 trees are replanted in its place. The blocks are painted using non-toxic water based lacquer and colour pigments which allows the beautiful natural wood grain to shine through on every block.
When you purchase Tegu toys, you are playing your part in supporting the work they do in Honduras, one of the poorest nations in the western hemisphere. Tegu is committed to using its business to improve lives in Honduras, by creating stable living wage jobs and career development.
