Bauspiel means Building Game, and is a German manufacturer of high quality wooden toys known for their exceptional workmanship. All Bauspiel wooden products are made from native timber, mainly Beech, Alder and Lime. The timber edges are polished and pleasant to touch, and the strong and vibrant colours used are toy safe and non-toxic.
The geometric shapes of the products introduce children to the world of building, construction and stacking in a playful and colourful way. The range of Bauspiel products can work together to mix and match your own story.
I bought these lucent cubes after seeing them on Instagram. I was very happy to see that Puzzlebug have split up the big set of 100 into sets of 10, making them much more affordable. The larger sized sets were out of stock, but the sets of 10 were still in stock... so I ended up buying four sets of 10, giving me 40 blocks. This doesn't cost any extra for being a small set, it's equivalent to the price of the 50 set per cube, which I really appreciate.
At that point I only had Grimm's blocks and no other Bauspiel, so I wasn't sure how well they would work, being a totally different scale... but I thought I'd try them out as they looked so pretty. I needn't have worried! They sit very nicely on top of the 4 cm Grimms blocks and make wonderfully sparkly decorations, catching the light and adding a whole other dimension to our creative play. All the children seized them eagerly and loved them from the first look. They call them their "treasures" , and love to line them up around the walls of our Grimms builds.
I have since caught the "translucent block bug" and bought several other types of acrylic blocks. The lucent cubes go brilliantly with everything!
